I’ve spent countless hours writing and rewriting manuscript text, but these are by far the most difficult words of any manuscript: “Ms. Molly Corlett passed between the time of completion of this study and the current manuscript submission.” https://lnkd.in/gCrqGXGP This sentence at the bottom of the page is probably missed by most readers, but it reflects a lasting loss to our team and the biomechanics and biomedical communities. It represents the loss of a future filled with meaningful impact.
The aftereffects of her passing also show how profoundly one person can influence an entire community. Molly’s research as a master’s student is already being used to inform clinical practice and generated pilot data for two funded clinical trials, advancing science and benefiting patients. Equally important, her dedication, drive, critical thinking, positive attitude, and overall love of life made everyone else around her better. For that, we’re eternally grateful.
